I've just returned from a week in Cyprus where we had mixed weather. The first part of the week was a bit overcast and I was starting to think we had done the wrong thing in leaving good old Blighty. Luckily we had a gorgeous villa to stay in and I had taken a stash of books to read.
One afternoon I was curled up on the sofa reading the Peter Kay autobiography, very amusing if you get the chance, with the local radio on for company.
For those of you who don't know Cyprus has a big army base so the best English radio station is BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service).
Imagine my joy as the DJ started talking about how lovely the weather was in England. This caught my attention so I thought I would listen to see if we would get an update on the Cyprus weather. But oh no she went on to say how in Chalfont St Peter it was so glorious it was in fact 'perfect pub lunch weather'. I had completely forgotten that BFBS broadcasts from a studio in Chalfont St Peter, I nearly spat my Keo lager across the room! Just goes to show you can't get away from home no matter how far you travel.
Luckily the weather picked up after the first couple of days and I managed to move from sofa to sun bed. All in all a relaxing week despite the reminders of home.
