I do love a Bank Holiday weekend but all too often they lead to an extra visit to the recycling centre. This weekend was no exception. The Mr's parents were visiting and we had some other friends around as well. By Monday morning I was in danger of not being able to get out the backdoor, so I decided to go to the recyling centre in Chesham.
I merrily loaded carrier bags full of cans, glass, plastic bottles and paper and headed off.
The cans, glass ad paper proved no problem, but I couldn't find where to put my empty tonic bottles. After several minutes of hunting around I asked one of the chaps who worked there. "We don't take bottles" he told me, "You'll have to take them somewhere else, or chuck them in with the other rubbish". I couldn't believe my ears. This recently renovated facility doesn't take plastic! I wasn't about to chuck them in with the rubbish after I'd gone to all the effort of sorting them out, so I had to drive to the site in Moor Road where you can recycle your bottles. Now is it just me or does this seem ridiculous? Surely if you can recycle your bottles up the road at a small site you should be able to at the main centre. I really don't understand the logic behind this. Can anyone explain?
