I've recently discovered a fantastic website called at www.freecycle.org. Basically it is a site that has been set up for people to advertise items they no longer want, but you have to give them away for free. The idea is that it will stop things going into landfill sites and is therefore environmentally friendly. It's amazing the things that people give away. My brother is a member and recently advertisd a tree from his garden that had grown too big. Two people came along and spent the day digging it up. They were delighted with it and it saved my brother having to go to the trouble of chopping it down! I've recently given away some old plastic garden furniture that I would certainly have taken to the dump if this site didn't exist.The Chiltern area of the site has nearly 1,000 members. It is easy to join so have a look if you want to get rid of something, or if you are on the look out for a bargain!
