On Friday I thought I was in for a dull weekend. If the weather was nice I thought I might potter in the garden which has gone a bit mad with all this rain, maybe head to the shops and that would be about it.
Instead I ended up in Manchester after a call at 6.30am on Saturday informed me of the arrival of my new niece, Sophie Ella. She was born at 3.03am on 07.07.07, so that will hopefully bring her lots of luck. After talking to my sister for a few minutes I went to go back to bed, but there was no way I could sleep, I was too excited! Instead I decided to have a quick shower and head north.
There is nothing like the arrival of a baby into the world to help get everything into perspective. Suddenly nothing else seems to really matter, as long as the little person is healthy. We spent the weekend smiling at the 6lb little bundle and taking pictures. It's great being an auntie, I got to leave just as it was nappy changing time!
