Road rage

Posted by Julie Voyce on July 18, 2007 10:17 AM |

Travelling to Chalfont St Peter every day I have managed to find some pretty adventurous routes to get me here avoiding the traffic and the main roads. This morning's journey has left me absolutely livid. One of the roads I use is single track in places with passing points. As I was driving up the road I could see a huge 4x4 thing hurtling towards me, obviously it had mum and her brood in it probably taking the five minute journey to school which could easily be walked, but hey ho. Anyway I couldn't believe it when the driver didn't want to pull into the passing point as it had a huge puddle and was very muddy. Now remember she has a 4x4, an off road vehicle meant for getting muddy and tackling the countryside. Instead little old me in my Astra hatchback was forced to drive half way up the verge and into a hedge just so she could avoid a trip to the car wash. I was furious and if I hadn't of been doing such a tricky bit of driving I would certainly have raised a fist of disapproval in her direction. It's enough to bring on road rage.

My friend alerted me to your article. From your description of the place, my car, and your own, I believe I was in that other car. I thought you were a very impatient and aggressive driver.
It was nothing to do with any puddle. You need to calm down.

My driving is fine and I always let people out, pull over to let people pass etc. If it was you, why didn't you pull into the passing point? I was forced half way up a hedge. I wasn't going fast and the person I am talking about actually would have passed another passing point so was even more ignorant and I would suggest they were in a hurry, not me!
