UFO video received

Posted by Julie Voyce on August 17, 2007 11:52 PM |

The Buckinghamshire Examiner story about UFOs certainly seems to have captured readers' interest. Never before have people talked to me about a story we have carried with so much enthusiasm!
Today I received an email from a reader who had caught the 'UFO' on his camera phone, visit the Examiner site to see the video.
I'm not sure what it is, but it all certainly a bit weird. To begin with I thought it was a bit of a hoax stroy, but then people from all over the are started calling and sending in pictures and reporting sightings. Until we get a plausible argument as to what these lights are they remain UFOs!

A couple of years ago, I was awoken from my slumbers in Little Chalfont by flashing lights and a loud droning noise.
I leapt from my bed and peered out of the window to see an illuminated, hovering object beaming down lights which swept the gardens in the vicinity.
I alerted my husband with the immortal lines" Wake up! There's a flying saucer!"
Closer, protracted and considered inspection enabled us to ascertain that it was, in reality, a police helicopter.

P.S. The next morning I rang the police, who confirmed that they were looking for, and in fact had caught, burglars.

Dear Julie,

Much as I hate to be sensible amidst such magical imaginings, it looks to me as though someone's bought one of those Asian ceremonial flying lanterns (a paper 'balloon' with a frame and a flame providing the hot air).

They are indeed eerie. Floating by slowly, inexplicably... A number of these caused quite a stir in London a couple of months ago, but you can just buy them over the net (www.skylanterns.com for example).

We are likely to see more of these now that they are more readily available. They are quite lovely, but quite terrestrial. Sorry.

Take it easy, Gareth.
