I'm going speed dating on Friday, but before anyone goes running to tell the Mr that I am on the hunt for a new man let me explain, it's speed dating, but not as we know it!
For starters it is at 9am on a Friday morning, so there will be no cheeky cocktails to relax me into the event. Secondly those involved are GCSE students.
Confused? So was I until I read the whole invitation.
It is actually a speed dating business event where I will sit with other local business people and we are visited every five minutes by pupils at Chesham Park School, where the event is being held, so they can quiz us about our jobs and how we got started.
I thought it sounded really interesting and a very novel way for the pupils to find out about lots of different jobs.
It is certainly more interesting than the things I did at school for careers lessons. I think they involved talking to a careers advisor who clearly didn't have a clue what to say when I told her I wanted to be a journalist. I think she tried to talk me into becoming a secretary or child carer, and this was in the 1990s! How things have progressed.
I'm a little nervous about the event as some teenagers can be a bit scary! I'll report back on Friday and let you know how I get on.
